In a frame off rebuild for a long time...
After all is said and done, I will be losing my dream warehouse/shop in the near future.
The CJ parts business went bust, and I can't afford to keep the warehouse I've been in for the last year much longer (especially since the new job keeps me out of town for weeks on end).
Problem is, I have nowhere to move my Jeep to, and its right at the reassembly stage from a complete frame-up rebuild. I removed all the spring hangers to go with a wider 3" spring to match the Waggy axles I have for it, so I can't install axles to make it a roller.
My house has no garage and not enough room to park my two drivers, much less store the Jeep and two other trucks, 3 trailers, the boat and a :dung:-load of tools. I can't even get my 1 ton into the back yard, as the gate is too narrow for it.
I can't decide if this will be the end of my CJ5 , or what. The wife says take up her parking space (the only hard surface parking), but since I'm gone OTR for weeks on end, I hate to leave it outside where the neighborhood kids (and mine) could possibly get hurt on it.
There is no storage units available locally that will allow me to work on this, and it needs a lot of welding/bodywork done.
So what to do? I have no family around here, no close friends (read: the only JEEP guy I could ask doesn't have his own house and lives with his new GF's parents).
I hate to loose my Jeep, but even moving isn't an option right now either...:censored:

Well that sucks a big one.:( I hope something works out for you somehow.

That really bites it. I hear you on the parts market seeming to be dry. Ive sold bits and pieces here and there but nothing like I used to.

Sorry to hear that. Many times something good comes from the hell we have to go through. I truly hope this is the case for you.

I know you have helped many on here with parts (me included), so I want to say thanks, what you did is appreciated.

That does suck to bad you dont live in fl I have some room for ya, hate to see a man loose his jeep. Worst case could you trade your project for a running CJ5 at least you would still have a jeep and could build it up later when you do have the room / time ?:)

This breaks my heart, I was pulling for you. :(

well, just a quick update, I'm unemployed again (not by my choice) so I thought things were really going in the crapper, but my shop landlord is letting us move into the trailer house he just set up on the complex's "back yard" at a reduced package rent deal, meaning I will be able to keep the shop for a while longer. Hopefully things will work out enough that I can at least get my CJ into a rolling chassis before any other big changes happen around here!
I have sent about 17,000 Lbs of parts to the scrapper the last couple months <don't kill me!> so now I have some room to actually do something in the shop. Been spending a lot of time cleaning, sorting, and selling what I can. I am excited that I will be able to do some work in there eventually!
Keep an eye out for progress reports on the CJ as I might actually be able to get something done on it this year! lol

glad to hear there's some good news anyway.

Well I'm looking for a few things if you want to part with them cheap. I need a good power steering pump and steering box. I need a good battery tray. I need an adapter for a T-18 to Dana 300 if you have one of those laying around. I need a bell housing for a T-18 to AMC 304 . Good one piece axles for the AMC20 . Dana 30 carrier to take 4:56 gears (I have 3:54's now so the new gears won't fit the current carrier). I'll take good 4:56 gears if you have them laying around. If you have anything like those stuff laying around shoot me a PM. Let me know your bottom price shipped to 19720 and I'll see if I can take something off your hands and keep them out of the scrap yard.

Just like someone else from Fla stated, if you were anywhere around here I would move my :dung: on the street just to allow you to park your Cj here. We could throw some tarps on it and she will stay dry. I have a lot of :dung: too I need to get rid of so we can work on moving. It's not really :dung: but everything I have needs something or another...

I'm glad to hear you are hanging in there I hope everything works out for you. You know what they say when one door closes another one opens. And I don't know who " they " are but they seam pretty smart. :)

Do you have a decent hood to fit my 77 CJ5 ?

Poppatello, sorry, I have already sold or scrapped 90% of my inventory. what little I have left I have plans to try to get installed on my rig. All that was done when I still thought I had to be out of my shop by this week. I hated to see it go that way, but there were no buyers here when I had inventory.
I appreciate the offers to store my Jeep, she has seen a lot of rain over the last couple years. Right now she is totally in pieces so moving her will be a pain! lol

Oh that last line up there? Thats me and my stuff in a nutshell! :chug:

IO, the only hood I have left is for a short nose (early) CJ. sorry.

Double Ditto
:chug:

Glad things are working out.
