I just finished the nutter bypass and am fixing to install motorcraft 2100 non emissions carb from Gronk Performance. I am trying to make this jeep as simple as possible so i plan to go with manual choke. With that said i should be able to do away with the manifold and choke heaters and associated wiring? I know some will reply to keep the electric choke but that is not the question. Thanks everyone. 86 CJ7 L6 5 sp

From what I have heard, good choice on the carb. I have tried manual chokes and remember when they were standard equipment. My experience with those is that I always forget to turn the thing off especially when there is too many other things to look for like big rocks, tree limbs, and cliffs. The manifold heater:Manifold Heater runs by itself and in my opinion is a good design. Getting rid of excess wiring is a lot easier with a wiring diagram if you don't already have one.

If you want to keep a manual choke then you dont need the manifold heater or its wiring.

Why would you not want to keep the manifold heater with a manual choke?

I would keep the manifold heater personally but the OP asked if he could get rid of it for simplifying his wiring that's why I commented what I did

After talking with other members here I will wire back up the manifold heater. I saved the connectors and wiring. I learned more about it's function from this forum, tbanks everyone.

And I thought I was going to learn something.:)

Did learn something about the part not too long ago. Someone posted a pic of the manifold heater. It had Volkswagen/Audi logos cast into it. Turns out they were used in early VW's. Bugs maybe?

Did AMC have no pride? We can now add to the list of GM and Ford parts in the CJ - Volkswagen.
