I've been reading about swapping out the carb for an MC2100 Carb. Just putting feelers out there to see how many of you have done this and your thoughts on it.
Thanks in advance

It’s a great carb, better than the BBD that’s stock and more aftermarket support to

Any certain year or model I should get one from. Or just any MC2100? Is the swap difficult?

1.08 bore from an AMC 304 or Ford 302

There is a guy that sells the rebuilt carb with the correct jets and the adapter on eBay and I know someone here bought one from him but I couldn’t find him on eBay

Gronk...that’s who I got mine from

I know there are some who have had issues with his setup, but mine was perfect. Only thing I touched was the idle.

Pricey compared to DIY, but was worth it to me with what little carb savvy I’ve got. The plate’s a plus, too...especially if aluminum fab is not your wheelhouse, either

I've never done the swap myself, but my brother bought his '86 with a MC2100 already installed. It runs great, no issues at all. And works much better on inclines than the other CJs with the stock carbs.

My rig came with the original Carter carb. It didn't like steep grades at all. I got a great deal on a Weber so put that on. I had heard what a great carb they were. It was better but still flooded on steep grades. I then bought a used MC 2100, put a rebuild kit in it, I think it was $15. Lowered the flloat and haven't had a. Problem since.

So went in the garage and checked things and low and behold I have a Weber on her. Not really sure where the vacuum line goes. Is it. 2100?

That’s an electrical connector

You want an older version without the solenoid on the back. There is a version with an altitude compensator, that's OK (I forget what it's called). The newer one is technically an MC2150 but nobody calls them that. I found mine on an '85 (?) Ford Bronco II. I rebuilt it but never finished because I came across a BBD with intake manifold from an AMC Eagle, it works just fine for a daily driver.

The Eagle was an '88 and someone drove it to the lot, and I think with a gallon of gas I could have driven it back out. I snagged both manifolds, the carb, and a coveted power steering bracket with pump. The air cleaner didn't work since I have power brakes, but luckily the one from the Bronco II has a factory dent that cleared the booster, just needed a cheap adapter from 2-5/8 to 5-1/8 or whatever.

Wow now thats a dream come true, great haul

Just for reference, 86 Aerostar van was the last ford to leave the factory with a 2150.
