Ok, I have decided to upgrade to the MC2150 and get rid of the original Carter BBD. I haven't ordered it yet and wanted to get some input before I did. Searching all the threads here and other sights I think this is the way to go. Looking for any input as to why this may not be the best choice.

My plan is to also do the nutter bypass and team rush upgrade, all around the same time. So my next question is. Is there a sequence I should follow with these three changes to get the best performance. i.e. - Carb first then Nutter, then TRI or Nutter, TRI then Carb?

Any thoughts, experience, mistakes, curses, "I wouldn't do dat chit", are welcome.

Time and money as always makes the decisions but Team Rush is easy and can be done anytime. If you are going to do a Nutter and a carb then do them at the same time. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks. That was kinda what I was figuring cause the set up will lose much of the emissions stuff that I won't be attaching to the new carb and Air Filter anyway. Then I can do the Team Rush as $$ frees up. Still, I prefer to learn from other peoples mistakes and learn all I can before I jump into something. Usually, works out to be cheaper that way for some reason.

I did the MC2100 conversion and the nutter at the same time, followed shortly by the team rush upgrades. The first two changed a barely get out of it's own way runner back into a capable runner. The Rush upgrade was not as dramatic, but made a difference in idle and fuel economy. Be careful of your jet choice on the 2100, as I would imagine at your altitude it would be easy to drown a motor.

Good point on the jets...guess I have a little more research to do. Glad to hear that what I am planning on doing worked out well for you. I am hoping for a big improvement on performance.

I may get slammed by all the bbd haters out there, but if you do the nutter by pass to the bbd it will be a very capable carb. I have the bbd carter with the nutter by pass and it runs like a champ. Here is a great link for the bypass, that was put in bbd metering pins theard. How to - Nutter Bypass - JeepForum.com This link has nice pictures with it.
The "Nutter" Bypass
http://www.jeep-cj.com/forums/f2/bbd-metering-pins-5034/?highlight=nutter+bypass+upgrade This is the thread.:) If your luck to have an older bbd with out the stepper motor and metering pins, this is even easier.

Thanks for the links for metering, I haven't seen that one before. My problem is that this carb is shot from sitting for two years and needs rebuilt anyway if it is to be used. It's not that I hate the Carters. From what I have read, the MC2100's are just a better carb and seem to do well at any angle and at high altitudes. Thanks again for the links.

Yeah your probably right about the high altitudes. Sorry should have read a little closer. The MC2100's maybe better at your elevation of 8200ft.:chug:

Ok, got my mc2150 sitting on the bench. On Sunday I plan to do the nutter bypass and get the timing set and everything running with the current carter BBD. Pull out all the extra emission stuff and the computer then move to pull the BBD and get the mc2150 on. Anyone see anything wrong with this plan? Sequence? Thanks.

Sounds like a good plan. Do you have to deal with Emissions up there? I'll be watching

Nope...no emissions. I will be taking pics each step to post so keep a weather eye out.

Have you figured out what jets are best at 8200ft?

Thanks a6!

Can you post a link...#45 was the smallest I could find.

That being said. I got the nutter bypass done today and the jeep with the old Carter started right up, no crank, crank, crank like before. I then removed the old Carter to install the MC2150 but when I went to put in the electric choke, I found I am missing the cover and the one on the Carter is riveted on so I will have to go to the parts store tomorrow to finish the project. I must say the bypass was very simple.

Need some help. I have the carb mounted and that part was fairly easy. I have been working to get all the vacuum hoses hooked up correctly and I have everything but the EGR hooked to the carb and for the life of me can't find
The port. It is supposed to be on the front right hand side I am pretty sure, but if you look at the pics, you will see it isn't there. On the one pic you can see a large port on the top, but I thought this is a bowl vent port. Could that be it? On the side shot you can see a capped port at the rear. i don't think it would be there, but what do i know. Any help is most welcome.

Cool so show us what you did. Did you make the bracket for the cable our did you buy it? And if you bought it where did you get it? I would like more info on how you did this PLEASE.
