Mech/Electric Temp Gauge

I have an 80 CJ5 6 cylinder and I am replacing the dash with a custom dash and I purchased the guages already. Without realizing I bought an electric Temp gauge and the Gauge that is currently on the CJ is a mechanical. Can I use the electric gauge or should I return and go for the mechanical? The line that was running from the old gauge was not only rusted but was not even connected so I would have to purchase a new line....hopefully that would be it. Any advice some of my fellow Jeepers can throw my way????

I prefer the mechanical gauges. Personal preferance. They are simpler. You don't have to convert temp to an electrical signal. They also have a wider sweep for more granularity. I know it means the hassle of trying to return the electric gauge.

Thanks...bettert o just return the electric and stick with the good ole mechanical.
