Weeks ago I ordered a set of Speedhut gauges from Amazon. Amazon shipped most small gauges very quickly, but they ordered the Programmable Speedometer directly from Speedhut. I needed a cable that wasn't shipped so I called Speedhut directly. They could ship the cable, but the Speedometer was delayed since they make each gauge to the customers specs and to their laser cutter was down for at least another week. So, I took advantage of that fact and upgraded the speedometer from a 3 3/8" to a 4" with turn signal and high beam lights in the face.
Finally the Speedometer arrives and instead of it being a programmable unit for ~$195, it is a GPS unit. The GPS gauges are cool with lots of little electronic gadgets built into the display and cost $299, about $100 more than the programmable unit. Unfortunately I wanted the programmable unit with no loss of signal and instant on just like a regular mechanical unit.
So, I find myself at a cross roads. Do I call and send it back to wait for them to send another or if given the option would it be smarter to keep the GPS gauge and live with a few seconds worth of start-up (finding the satellites) delay and the occasional loss of signal (in tunnels and parking garages).
