Looking for a little direction here.

Still working on my 351w swap and I'm prepping my Ford T-18 /Dana 20 for mounting. The underside of the T-18 doesn't have anything to mount to.

I made the assumption that I'd be able to mount it to the skid plate like the Jeep T-18 was.

I got the Transmission and TC from Herm, so I'll call him on Monday, but if anyone on here has any input, I'd appreciate it.

First image is an angled shot of the underside of the T-18 .

Second image is the driver's side of the Dana 20 . There's a threaded hole in the side and I can see the gears inside. Obviously something goes there, but I don't know what. ce898a165abbe0136d8f3ba833718c45.webp IMG_20200919_151612.webp

My only guess is that the adapter plate between the two just doesn't have the mounting surface that I need for the skid plate.

Anyone know where I need to look to get the correct adapter plate with mounting holes?

Thanks.

Wow, I would think for what you paid, you would get all the needed attachments. I would check either Novak or Advanced Adapters for the correct adapter. Then call up the guy and tell what you need, make him supply it NC.

I'm sure they'll make good on it. I paid them a little more to mate the two so I wouldn't have to worry about it.

I could be wrong, but that hole in the Transfer Case appears to me to be where a “ball And Socket” joint mounts on the earlier offset spicer18 transfer cases. The earlier jeeps had mechanical clutch linkage that swivel off that spot with cables linked to the frame mounted clutch and brake pedals. I’m fairly certain later Spicer 18 and the Dana 20 use the same case and can be interchanged with different internals. It could have been rebuilt utilizing an earlier case.

That makes sense. I plan on sticking a bolt in it gooped up with RTV.

If all else fails, you could add a bracket tied into the bolts between the TC and Transmission . It would be a custom fabrication, but very doable.

I was prepared to do that, but...

Turns out it's an adapter plate for a T19 out of a Scout II, and it clocks the Dana 20 down more than a CJ. Took some measurements and it won't fit right without more cutting.

I called Herm and he's hooking me up with the correct adapter plate. They've been swamped and the fires haven't helped...just comes down to an honest mistake.

It sucks that it's going to be another delay, but in the grand scheme of things, just another minor problem with no real consequence.

That's a good way to look at it ! You gotta stay positive these days

Yeah man, there are people out that way that have lost everything.

I could tell that they were stressed out when I called. They have a backlog of work out the wazoo and they're behind on pretty much everything. They're good folks, so I'm not about to flip my :dung: over something of little consequence. It's just another delay.

I'm used to it!

The good news is my headers shipped from Jet-Hot today, so I should have them by the weekend.

Glad your getting take of.
Its bad up there, one fire was less than 40 miles from my home town. The smoke is really bad too, it's sad, that is some beautiful country up there.
