Build Thread My 1965 CJ5 build

Just bought my first jeep, second vehicle. Its a 1965 CJ5 , pretty much all original, bought it from my uncle, just waiting to bring it home. (gotta wait til the ground dries up) As far as i know the only major mods are manual locking hubs, posi in the front and rear axles, and some beefier electrical set-up for the plow, such as dual batteries and a beefy alternator out of a buick.

oh yeah.... drivers side floor is just gone. Planning on a fiberglass tub/front clip

Got a little bit of an update, been kindof slow-going so far, mostly with time and money. Got the plow frame completely off, and stripped out the hydraulic pump for it. Just got a battery for it today, and so far have only been able to get the starter solenoid to 'click'. Next purchase will be a starter and a solenoid (already know starter was on it's way out when my uncle parked it in ~1990) see where that gets me.:dunno:

Update - got my carport/shelter built and moved the CJ under cover, got the hood and both fenders off. Bolts werent tooo bad, except the ones going from the fender into the firewall, those are barely recognizeable as bolts at this point. Also managed to finally get the starter off, gonna head to advance auto later and have them test starter/solenoid

So within the past month the CJ has now been stripped of the rear half of the tub, gas tank and dashboard are also out. (tried to leave as many gauges and switches connected as possible) I'm also currently waiting on a call back from endangered species jeep about a starter.

Glass tub sounds good on paper but it's alot of work. Good luck!!

Yeah Ive heard it's a lot of work but thats my best option, the tub wasn't salvageable and being in New england, finding another one is near impossible

Absolutely not worse than what I started with. It is restorable if you have the ability.
