People have been asking me what my plans are for the Scrambler and if Im going to do a build thread. Ive been thinking about it a little while now and have a decent plan in mind. Its not going to be anything radical or off the wall but Im going to chronicle it here. Over the weekend I'll post more pics and give you guys an idea where Im headed. For now heres the starter pic:

Can't wait to watch your progress. We have several CJ8 's in our city and I see one that looks exactly like yours (color etc.) almost everyday parked at the local grocery store. I'm patently waiting for the day he/she puts a 4 sale sign on it.
Anyway like I said, I'm looking forward to your build progress.

I know how you feel. It took me almost 2 years to finally get mine. I sold my CJ7 and a stash of parts for my CJ5 but I wanted a Scrambler bad. Heres the CJ7 I sold. I barely finished it up before selling it.

Since the tempurature is up and Summer is here the first thing was shed the doors and put on the bikini top. I used one from a CJ7 that I got from Certifiable Jeep and the soft 1/2s came with it.

The Scrambler doesnt look to bad from afar but be assured its from the Northeast. It was used as a truck. The first piece bought specifically for this was a nice black tailgate off Craigslist for $50. Heres the origanal. Of course one of the Torx bolts stripped and needed to be drilled out. I cleaned up the hinge areas good with some sandpaper.

The bed floor is wavy but pretty decent rust wise. Plans are to Herculine the whole tub at a later date. I gave the bumper a quick rattle can job just to freshen it up a bit. Ive also used something on this Jeep that I never have on the previous seven Ive owned. Im actually going a little bling and using some stainless accents. I think it will look good and break up the solid black a little. Besides you all know chrome is what makes a wheeler.

This weekends project will be rust removal. My floor pans finally arrived and I'll start working on this Saturday. The passenger side had a patch welded over the rusted original. Not much left to the Driver side. I also got a replacement for the rocker rot. Im gonna trim it so I still have JEEP embossed where it should be.

After I conquer the rust issues I'll move on to the exhaust. Then it will be ready for Pa. inspection. So the plans are to anhilate all the rust , Herc the tub , repaint black , get her up in the air a bit and run a full soft top with seating for all 5 of us. What Im after is a wheelable CJ8 on 33s that still has a good look to it. Comments and suggestions are welcome. :)

Nice tow bumper:poke: All kidding aside, looks like your getting her on the right path :chug:. Keep us posted on the progress ! Looking good !!

Yo man that bumper has a gvr of 300,000 lbs. no matter what vehicle its on. :D I have no idea what style of bumpers I will use yet.

Hey Pete being from the rust belt myself I like the idea of using SS when I can, even if others think it's a little blingy at least it won't rust.
Looken good so far keep us posted. I really want a 8 someday.:)

Buyers seem to have the advantage right now. Ive been seeing more going for $5000 or less. If you dont mind doing the body work around $3000. Mine was originally listed for $4800 and I weasled my way down to $3700. The initial buy in is more but I wanted the extra room and the cool factor. :) I managed to hold on to these wheels for it when I was having my "fire" sale. I think they'll fit this Jeep nicely.

Decided after much thought this floorboard/rocker stuff is too big for me. I cant weld , panels dont really match up and there are some braces I need fabbed. Not really sure what Im going to do right now. Just disgusted right now.

im in the same spot right now with my tub and need to have the body mount brackets redone from the doors back

The great thing about floor boards is that they do not have to be perfect. This would be a great project to learn some welding skills. Most of what you will be working on will be hidden... :)

Don't be too down on yourself! We all had to learn somewhere! :)

Just upsetting. Work and monitery things are weighing on this. I had hints , just didnt heed the warning. Im a freaking rubber band. Be scared of the rebound. :D

Ok. Broke out of my week long Jeep funk. I found some help with the floor boards and such and will resume work on the Jeep this weekend. I'll do the cutting this week , and then have someone weld them in next week. Pics to come later. :)

Im off from work this week and my computer took a dump. I'll start posting up once I get that resolved. Posting from the library today.
