Anyway I cant be angry forever over things I cant control so I had to get downstairs a little. Ive been using the basic hand tolls for all my work. Many a time I couldve used a helping hand. A little while ago I got a bench vise that I believe will help alot. Not the glitzy-est tool in the world but like a Cj its tough , basic and gets the job done.

Of course you need to mount it to something stable or its worthless. I have a little "workbench" in my basement. I mounted the vise with some larger flat washers on the bottom to help dispurse some of the stress going thru it if needed. Im thinking of grabbing some metal plate to sandwich the plywood table till I get another workbench.

Ok the above pic has the alternator in it. That doesnt go on the parts washing trip. :D I wish I could take the Scrambler up there as well but it looks like Im going to have to take care of this mess in the garage / driveway.

Im really having a hard time understanding why my new shackles arent on my porch this minute!! I'll be even more understanding ,and wait for a reply to the e-mail I sent .

That email was concerning my recent disgust with Morris after I went thru this whole scenraio by phone yesterday.

Something is supposed to show up tomorrow? I can only imagine what will be in the great brown mystery box left on my doorstep by Fed Ex.
Well :dung:, Pete, if you tell them you want 1/2" instead of 1/8" (They must hear 1 1/8") you might get the right ones.

well at least they gave you plenty of it. even threw in some litter for your trouble.

You knew I couldnt help but have a little fun at their expense. :D Today Im happy to announce a smaller box appeared with the correct size shackles. Saturday will be spent washing the parts pile and weather pending , painting will start.:chug:

It it was my daily driver at this point I wouldve been fuming... more. The stockers have always looked so flimsy to me even though theyve lasted 30 yrs.

It really did make me think though. Im going to get more into detail later on in this thread. :)
Hey congratulations, now let me ask you, was it worth it? Lol

DROOOID 2

yeah they do look flimsy, mine need replacing. i'm going to try to have a buddy of mine make me some at work, should be free (i hope). i can't bring myself to spend $75 on a couple pieces of flat steel. hence the name CHEEPjeep . although those are very nice.

I'm cheep too, made my own. I never cared for the one that have the welded piece holding them together. My thought is, not all bushings are the same, so they might not be the right width. I see a lot of pics of people with there's bent from tighting.
Pete, good luck with yours, I hope they fit right. (not trying to jinx ya)
