Did Jeep use parts for several different years in the 1975 CJ5 's? I have a '76 fuel tank. fill hose, vent hose, and brake master cylinder. Is that normal or did the PO put the wrong parts on my new toy? Not that it matters. They work, but it's hard to get the correct replacement. I have to order parts through local stores, since many of the online dealers will not accept returns or don't pay for returns. Any thoughts?

Hard to say about jeep using different parts, but I wouldn't put it past them.
And you never know what the PO might have done.

We have the opposite problem...we have 75 parts on our 76 CJ'5's. Mostly what you said, gas tank, filler necks, brakes were different somewhat... so yes, there are others that feel your pain!

Looking to replace my gas tank now. What year tank would have a 1 1/4" diameter filler hose and 1" diameter vent hose? Most online sites say my 1975 should have a 2 1/4" diameter & 61/2" long inlet (filler hole). That is WAY larger than what I'm replacing. Anyone out there with a '75 CJ5 have a different tank?

BTW, it is next to impossible to get the fuel fillers for 76-77 and even some 78's. It is better to update to post 78 if you want to find replacement parts down the road... just my $.02 for people wanting to keep their rigs for a long time.

The downside about fuel filler hoses is that they dry out and crack... and if they don't have replacement ones... well then you have few options.

All rustbuckets hide a shiny new Jeep underneath... it just takes a little effort to get it to come out... sometimes they are shy.
