My Dane LEOLA needs your thoughts and prayers

My Dane LEOLA needs your thoughts and prayers
The final chapter.
Leola ended up at about 90% fully functioning, couldn't run and ruff house anymore but that was fine with us we still had our little girl.

She had 8 month and love to share and we cherish every second. Sadly, we had to say our goodbyes early this morning. While camping up at graeagle last night she bloated on us, with the addition of her stomach twisting. For you large bread fans out there you know how bad that is.

So at about 1:00 am I had to load her and the wife into the CJ and drive down 70 and 395 to Reno, about 60 miles. I didn't know the CJ could handle that, fastest I have ever taken it and it performed great, got us there with her still with us so we thought we had a chance. Then we found out the stomach and it can also distort the spleen. At 9 and 3/4 years old with cancer in her eye and just having a mass removed we just could not put her through what the Doc said would have to happen. So we said our goodbyes and let her go.

Thank all of you for your kind words and thoughts during her back recovery.

So sorry for your loss.
Curt and JoEllen

Glad she got to spend some more time with you and your family before she passed. Our condolences to you and your family.

Amen Lumpy, Amen.

Sorry to hear this but glad to hear that you had the last 8 months to spend together. And to have a last camping trip as well. The memories will live on.

Awww darn it.

Life can be so short for big breed dogs. It always seems so odd to me. The little dogs that seem to burn their candle of life from both ends seem to go on and on with healthy lives. But the big calm dogs Labs, Golden Retrievers, Great Danes, Scent Hounds seem to come and go far to quickly. My thoughts are with you and your family. Bless you all.

Thanks guys, it's so quiet at the house without her there. Seems strange.
Gr8dain, that is exactly what I told my wife. She pulled through that and had almost another year with us.

The best way to mend your broken heart-Is to save another dog. ;)
All my dogs, have been 'rescue' dogs......
But-It was ME they 'rescued'--

I'm with Lumpy on this but I waited a few months. I missed having a buddy greet me every morning before work and when I got home so I caved a little early. Everyone has different timetables for these things. You follow yours. :)

Leola came to us a two dumb as a post, no training at all, not a single command but she trained up fabulous, took about a month but we got her to ring a bell to go outside. She was of course an inside dog.

We are on a pretty slow transition, like you said Pete everyone has there own time table. We will have to find ours.

Sorry for your loss. I've been through it. Time will turn your sad thoughts into happy memories. Best of luck.
