I've been a Jeeper for a few years and owned a YJ and a TJ.....
I sold my jeeps last year thinking its time for a change..so I sold both and went out and bought a truck.
Well, 8 months later my life felt empty....
I'd see all these Jeeps pass me by and felt like I deserted my family.
While I still have the "truck"....Last month I purchased a 1981 CJ7
I paid $4000 for the Jeep and is in awesome shape!! Been driving topless for a month now!! LOL
The Jeep had a frame off redo many moons ago, but was always kept under cover.
The previous owner had replaced the rusted steel tub with a fiberglass one.
The tired engine was replaced with a low mileage stock Chevy 350 and adapter kit from Advanced Adapters.
A hood scoop was installed from a 1973 Transmission Am. It is a functional SHAKER style scoop that was flipped around 180* to be a real scoop.
Exhaust is routed thru Heddman headers and Thrush welded 2 chamber mufflers (sounds awesome for a stock engine!)
Tires are just plain ol' 31" x 11.50 ones..
New Bestop Thermal Seats were added (these are heated seats). Still need to modify passenger side seat bracket to lower seat...thick seats sits way too high!! I chopped 4" off my drivers seat bracket!!
Paint looks good from 10 Feet away LOL... It is a Candy Orane but the top layer of candy had adhesion problems with the silver base coat .
Future plans are to install a lift and 35's....Convert over to an Automatic Transmission , already have 4.10 gears and with the power of the 350..they should be fine cause I'm not out rock crawling or doing anything extreme off road...more of a light trail warrior!! LOL
I have a hardtop and softop for the the Jeep, just ordered a rear tire carrier bumper, just got in my Cobra CB and should be installing that this weekend.
Here are a few pics for your enjoyment!
