I just purchased a new front drive shaft the slip yoke is stuck and wont slide, must have happend in shipping, it was well packed and theres no damage,

I tried greasing it, it took grease but is still stuck, anyone know of any tricks to free this thing up??

thx

I always put the fixed end of the shaft in a shop vise and tapped on the stuck end with a hammer. I know it's a rather cave man like approach, however it always worked for me.

If you apply a little force it may come loose but I wouldn't do anything without contacting the seller first. Who did you buy it from? If you bang on it they may void the warranty. On the other hand that may be exactly what they tell you do do.
I'd call them first.

I talked to the shop that made it this morning, they said the same thing......
being an Aircraft mechanic for 15 years now, I tend to try to finess things into submission as oppsed to beat!! haha but Im going to have to learn to beat on the jeep a bit! haha

I fixed it by removing the Zerk fitting and calling down the gods of pulling power....( I think I pooped alittle) the new seal is just really good! installed and ready to rock!

thanks for the help!!:chug:
