Narrow verses wide track

Narrow verses wide track
never called you out, just pointed out that there are 10 years worth of jeeps out there with narrow centered pumpkins

I will point out that if you are going give out bad tech, you should be prepared to back down, I have admitted mistakes for years around here.
Just saying:chug:

roger that.

I was wrong about the pumkin. I cant edit the post anymore Otherwise I'd delete it.

why edit it
I let my mistakes stand
that proves you are not afraid to make a mistake
and that makes your credos go way up, admitting a mistake and not being afraid of it, it is called learning

oh PS, I could edit it if you like.

nah its cool

funny. all those cj5s with Corp. 20 axles are narrow track
remember the centered pumpkin came in 72, the wide track came in 82 so there are 10 years of narrow track centered pumpkins.
you probably have been under a rock not to see any

Centered would not be totally accurate, Axle lengths are not equal on the Corp 20. Relatively centered as compared to an axle behind the dana/Spicer 18 maybe.

actually, because you said it, we discussed a lot of info about Tcases and axles that would not have come out. The info is valuable for someone looking for NT axles, or wanting to learn about them.
So that post is actually valuable to the thread.
We want to be the best tech CJ forum on the web, discussions like this help in that goal

I don't want to sound argumentative but the pumpkin and diff cover are centered (if you have a Dana 20 or Dana 300 ). The axles are different lengths because the ring gear is on one side of the pinion gear. That makes the diff housing off to one side and hence one axle shaft is longer than the other.

Corp 20 pinion is approx 3/4" OFF center. But maybe I am splitting hairs. :D

So is everybody right then? :D

My computer nearly crashed with all the smillies.:D

OK so went out and measured the pumpkin, 1 1/2" OFF center and that agrees with the axles being 3" different in length because they terminate in the center of the diff, yes the pinion is offset 3/4" from there.
Splitting hairs? yes. post run off track? yes. :)

Sorry Baja but it looks like your head would hurt from banging it into that wall so much.

No
I was wrong.
I thought the pinion was centered.
