Well you can see the size hole I have in the tub, you can also see what I use to have and what JB Fab sent me......Soooooo I am assuming that the majority of you probably made something just curious of what everyone did for all the excess opening on the tub.

Thanks guys.

I used my original cover as a template for cutting one to accept the new shifter location. Sheet metal from a scrap yard, tin snips, and a file. Transfer hole locations and drill.

Do you have a pic just curious of what it looks like. :D

I'm installing Twin Sticks in my '75 CJ5 and noticed that the twin stick boot doesn't cover the original hole so I cut the boot part out of the original and will place the t.s. boot on top of that. Should be a nice clean looking .... cobbled up mess. Well not really a cobbled up mess, I think it will look good enough, not Ferrari good enough but good enough for a working Jeep.

It's probably a silly thing to mention, but his body/floor pan is quite a but different from yours. His has a nice smooth arch to it. Yours and mine are far more angular, his twin sticks are also quite a bit different from ours. But if you have the skill and access to a brake have at it. Personally I like the angular Transmission cover, it says 1975 to me.

That is true...hell I don't know what I'm going to do lol. Figured I would get more replies with pics. Maybe ill just make some adjustments to my old one

I actually think the method I'm going to use will look factory. Except for the funky rubber used in JB's boot. It would be easy enough to make just a side plate covering the original hole with the t.s. hole where it needs to be. I actually learned something from your simple picture. My original factory boot doesn't have the steel ring yours has. A trip to Willy's Works here in town just might be in order. By-the-way I find my "cobbling" usually turns out far better than most Jeep mods I've seen lately ...... Well FAR better than the PO of my CJ5 ever did. My bolt holes aren't stripped, all nuts and bolts have lock washers if they are appropriate, most of the leaks seem to be stopped...... and much more.

This is my floor. It's covering a SM465 with a twin stick Dana 18. I used a oil pan from a TH350 auto.

What is the hole under the gas pedal for? Nice job, but why so much extra metal, was the floor compromised

1) Access to the old frame mounted master cylinder.
2) My floor wasn't compromised. I had to cover this.

:) Now thats access to your bell housing and Transmission . Makes Transmission work easier. With the swing pedals I was confused about the access hole.

That look good, i would have never even thought to use an old pan lol. I'm modifying the plate on the right for my t.s. the plate jb Fab gave is to small and will leave open air. Hopefully sooner then later this will get done.

Great build:chug:

Did you make a new cover? I'm getting ready to make one for my '75. I'm considering doing a detailed report on how I'm going to do mine.

This has actually been an education for me. I knew the pre '71 jeeps had a removable floor pan , but real idea. '71-75 they had practically the same floor pan but it is glued in, but can be removed with an air chisel. A tempting proposition considering the huge access removing the pan can afford.

Lol,:D I have no clue what your talking about my pan was screwed on no glue. I am going to alter my orginal one to fit over the twin shifts. I just started working on it last night I have some pics I shall post somewhere w/ some questions soon.

I would def. like to follow your build though. :chug:

The big opening in Sam5038's jeep is actually almost the same as ours. I.E. a great big cover with the smaller ones we are working with bolted to it or on top of it. Look very closely at your floor and trace out the line of the pan you'll see what I mean. I had doubts too but sure enough we have almost, not exactly the same, but almost the very same pan. Ours is factory glued in, the older ones are bolted in. This is yours, look closely:

That's awesome. I saw the pic before I read the text and said "hey...that's an oil pan!" Jeep owner ingenuity at it's best!

For mine, I rolled a piece of aluminum diamondplate to match the old contour of the tunnel, cut new holes, and pop riveted it down.
Im getting ready to roll the xfercase and install a flat skid, lifting up the tranny some....and being a T-18 , it's a huge sob which will no doubt protrude above the tunnel, so the oil pan idea has me thinking.....
