I'm trying to locate some used parts for my '74 like the tranny skid plate/crossmember, battery tray, tranny tunnel cover, fenders, etc... and I'm getting frustrated because I can't find anything. It's like '72-'75 are black hole years. Can somebody point me in the right direction and give me some leads on where to look?
 
When I can't find something new/aftermarket from a vendor online, I call Watson and Sons in NC. They're a Jeep yard, so nothing is brand new. They've never not had something that I needed. Their prices are awesome, too.

J&W in CA are great too. I bought a steering wheel horn cover from them over Watson and Sons because they had one in mint condition (clear plastic over in the middle was crystal clear, AMC logo was pristine)...I certainly paid for it, but it was worth it!

You're probably going to pay an arm and a leg in shipping for the big stuff like skid plates...
 
Thanks for the tips, I will look into them. I figured shipping would be a bear but I dont have a lot of choices around me. I live in northern AZ and parts yards are in slim supply. I even looked on ebay but everything I found was for '76 on up, and the few used jeep suppliers I asked on there were no help.
 
Just a quick update. There is a contact on ebay that seems to be of help, mrcjs out of NC. He just got in a compatible cj and is pulling some parts off of it for me. Communication is slow going though. I did contact willys works and he was very friendly and very helpful, but the only thing he had that I needed was a piece of the tranny cover so he shipped it to me. I came across somewhere called amc offroad in the valley by accident last week on a trip down, but they sold the pair of fenders I needed just the day before. Ain't that always the way it goes....
 
76+ fenders will work also. There were a few changes along the way, but I think a 76/77 would be nearly an exact match with the cutouts for the blackout lights (or whatever they were for). 82+ inner fenders would require some modification to fit your short front shock mounts.

https://www.vintagejeepparts.com/ has a decent selection of some 72-75 stuff (especially for heater and fuel tank stuff)
 
Thanks, I'll look into them. I'm almost to the point of giving up looking for fenders and trying to fix what I have. Most of what I've found is either worse than what I have or it's too cost prohibitive to get.
 
There a couple of places in Denver. Jeep Republic 4X4, Jeeps unlimited, FN jeeps in Colorado Springs. May get lucky!

I've been poking around the jeeps unlimited site, I caught an ad of theirs on craigslist and was blown away by the inventory pics. I'll have to check out those other companies, thanks!

I just read through an article on jalopnik about that fn jeep. All I can say is "wow". Even if I didn't have a jeep I would love to go to that place and just drool in shock and wonder. I could really do some damage in that place....
