My 74 CJ5 has some beautiful blue rims but they are rough
I want to keep them as "show/road" rims
Anyone know where I can take them to fix them up and get them repainted

when you say "rough" do you mean heavily pitted?

If just "paint" find a local powder-coat shop. They'll look the best that way (IMO)

If you mean rough like this:

My local America's Tires actually fixed this up for me! This picture is from BEFORE I just pulled the jeep out of the rocks... It got worse...

So you might have to find someone that will give it a shot. I got lucky that they got er all straightened out and sealing right.

Yours are about as bad as My old,off road, Swamper rims. I blasted and sanded and everything else I could think of and ended up just putting a couple of coats of rustolium on them and bought some new "ride around town wheels. The rust pits just don't fill all that well and for what they cost to replace, $75+ I got tired of trying to sand them pretty quickly.

Best of luck to you. If you find a solution I know we will all be interested.:D

Oh I see :)

Sand and blast them, then maybe a poweder coating place can smooth out some primer and get you a nice look again. That's what I would try... Or like IO said, get em close, and use them off road! Darker colors show imperfections better than shinny colors (i believe) so you might keep that in mind when choosing new color. Black for instance will show the "rust divots" more than white... though maybe its the glossyness that will help...

A paint guy might know better!

Great pic there JR, did you pierce a sidewall or just break the bead?

actually just snapped the valve stem off on a pointy rock... took the wrong line... long story, but in a nut shell, they were not the valve stems I wanted on there...

Those style wheels are still being made. The least expensive option would be to get new wheels and and paint them the color you want. It's going to take a lot of work to get the ones you have now back to showroom.

Look for non-pitted used spoke rims and paint them. You should be able to find a set of spokes that aren't pitted for under $100. The OEM white wagon rims were coated (maybe galvanized) and didn't rust like aftermarket rims. Watch craigslist.

Think they're some guy in Shebyville that has a ton of Jeep parts he was selling on CL.
