In my other thread I had a bunch of lighting issues and they were pretty much resolved by ATTACHING the parking lights to the body. Who da thunk it.

I am starting a new thread because I need the best opinions on how to solve my last two issues.. The proverbial fuel and temp gauges.

Here is recap of what I know.

The temp gauge worked before I took everything apart.

I bought a new gas sending unit and a new temp sending unit.

A circuit test inside the sending unit cap (pink wire) and the temp sending unit cap(purple!) make the light blink.

My son-in-law did the "cross something" behind the fuel gauge and it slowly rose to the F.

I believe we tested the ground from the fuel sending unit under the body.

The only thing I am not sure we checked is how well the speedometer is grounded against the newly painted dash. Well, it still has the bare threads with the dome nuts to ground to.

I just don't know what to suspect.

I will probably buy a temp gauge tomorrow and try it since the temp is what I really need to monitor.

Sorry if this was bad etiquette to start a new thread, but I was afraid it would get missed at the bottom of the other one.

Cheers

I see the diagnostics for this is well documented. I will follow the instructions I found. I would delete this, but couldn't. I will post my end results later.

Cheers

Ended up buying the fuel and temp gauges from Morris 4 x 4 ($69) and installed them and everything is working great. One note about the new gauges... The fuel gauge has only two posts instead of the three posts for the OEM gauge and the jumper goes from the (from behind the gauges) right most post on the fuel gauge to the right most post on the temp gauge. I got this messed up at first because the OEM was right most fuel to left most temp. The third (hot) for the fuel gauge goes on the jumper post.

So basically, as you look at the back of the gauges, they are set up the same with S, I on each where S = sender and I = Ignition. S on the left and I on the right.

On to the windshield I broke last night :)
