My jeep has no coolant recovery bottle hooked up. It just has the line plugged up, no bottle connected. Previous owner said he installed a "bigger rediator" and it did not need a recovery bottle. Any thoughts? Thanks

My CJ didn't have one when I got it. I installed one like this:

It's only $20 and a used Mountain Dew bottle is even less.
I would get some type of overflow bottle. It may be less important with an over-sized radiator but you will still loose some coolant.

I don't think a lot of them came factory with one, it was the 70's after all... You can pick up one like BusaDave9 pictured from most local parts joints, or you can get them from Summit or Jegs for $20 ish plus shipping. Or, you can do like CJ did and use an NOS bottle (the energy drink not real nitrous oxide) as a recovery bottle.

Busa is right about anything will work, antifreeze jug, 2 liter coke bottle, whatever will hold water and you can run a hose to will work in a pinch. But you definately need to be able to catch the extra and not let I leak on the ground.

Now that took some thought. How many of those did you have before installing that one? That is reaaly cool. Thanks for the ideas.

Any thoughts on how to fab something to hold the bottle (or can)? Thanks.

Any junk yard access? I would think you could find a bottle and mount off something that would work.
Just an idea.

Old coat hangers, velcro strips, what have you. you could always use a chromed hose clamp screwed into the sheet metal to hold your Fosters can.
