Worth the money?

Are remote control cars really worth the money? I keep hearing and seeing more and more of these little custom remote rigs running around, but when you start talking about over 1k invested, I just don't get it. I would rather by some old junker dirt bike or :dung: box 4x4 then spend a bunch of money on something I am sure to break fast. I do think their enjoyable, but they seem to get expensive, just like the big ones do fast!
