no full turn after lift

Someone please help! I'm new to all this jeep stuff and I have a 79 CJ7 I put 4" suspension lift on and now I can only turn part way to the left but all the way to the right. I checked to see if it was hitting to stop bolts on the back of the knuckle but it wasn't. Can someone please give me some advice on this matter?

Your turning radius will be increased (can't turn as tight as before) the more your drag link is angled, I'm just not sure if both directions are effected equally. You may need to change your pitman arm or flip your drag link up on top.
Did you have someone turn the wheel as you watched for binding of something else, maybe a steering stabilizer limiting out or something?

I would guess because of your lift the angle from your steering box via the drag link to your right hand spindle has a pretty good angle down hill on it? If so that would make your drag link to short and not able to have enough travel to steer both right and left full travel to your stops.
It may require adjustment to your drag link or a dropped pittman arm or both? You would be looking to get the tie rod and drag link on a similar plane, the drag link can be a few degrees higher at the steering box but to much will cause "bump steer"

Also, don't forget that most dropped pitman arms (if you swapped it) are shorter than the original, decreasing the overall turning radius.

Did you turn the steering wheel when the Pittman arm was off?? The steering box will only go so far in either direction. If you are out of the center of this spread it will not turn far enough in one direction.

Point the wheels straight and drop the arm, go to lock in one direction, go to lock in the other counting turns, turn it back half the number of turns and put the arm back on.

Was your steering wheel straight after you put the lift on?

I had this same problem when i installed my 4in Procomp lift. Turns out my problem was that the drop pitman arm that came with the lift kit was indexed wrong, giving me less turning one way and too much turning the other. I had to get another pitman arm. sounds crazy but you may want to check that

There are a lot of Pittman arms out there that are indexed correctly for late model 90's Jeeps only but no so for the CJ's...........I just get in the habit when I get one that's not indexed correctly I file a new grove in the pittman arm at the index point and it now allows the arm to go on anywhere.
