So any of you who have seen zombieland would know what my title meant but thats not what this is about!

Tomorrow is the day i go and get my 84 CJ7 tub! pretty rust free and only little body repair will be needed :D and the guy is giving me a pair of flat fenders, windshield, and hood if i want it all for 350 bucks! kind of bummed out my friend back out on going with me, he said he was all excited and would go but when push came to shove he didnt want to.

Didn't want to help lift it? :)

He changed his mind and came with me this morning and i got a few extra things i paid 350 and got the tub, which is in great condition, a gas tank and Dana 20 shifter a grille(not to great condition) a power brake booster, a windshield but needs new glass and and two heavy duty built flat fenders(ones bent)!

The guy is a really nice guy he has a 87 YJ that he stretched 2 feet to make it look like a scrambler and it looks great hes got a 350 to put back in it with a 700R he has full width axles under it. But the best thing ever is he has a 100% original 1984 SCRAMBLER but it needs a new body tub but damn is it nice for being all rusted out and he got it for free!

All in all it was a good day trip with my bud and now is time to start the work, i need to find a dash and seat!

I'd say ya made out pretty good on that one!

There's a fella not too far from me who's got two Scramblers, and they're both (he tells me) coming up for sale this spring. I've got a feeling they might both be within my price range... the one's barely good enough to be a parts Jeep, but the other one's not too bad. It's been used as a puller, though, so I'm betting the frame's twisted.

His needs a new tub but i've only found two Scramblers in MT and one is a 7500 and its good to go hit the trails and the other is 5000 grand and needs some work and one has a half cab and the other has a full hard top. I want one so bad and if i ever buy it im gonna end up paying 8000 for one.

I hear ya on the wanting one - I've been watching CL here for quite a while. There's a couple for sale here - one at $2400 & one at about $6K. Neither one's cheap enough for me to leap at, though. :)

Now... I'd walk right past a CJ8 for a CJ10, though. I'd sell my Tacoma in a heartbeat if I found a restorable CJ10 to use as my workhorse. They're crazy hard to come by, though...

I had a CJ10a here about a month ago for $500 i think. I think he wanted to be rid of it more than anything. look in the good deal posts.

Yabbit... Yabbit... a 2WD Jeep is like... like... na. Just kinda' misses the point, kinda'. If it's got a slotted grille & lives on my place, it's gotta' have one drive axle in back & another one up front. A third is optional. :)

I thought the cj10 was an export to Australia, or someplace other than here.

They were offered in the industrial/commercial/military market here, too, besides being widely exported. They just never hit the civilian showroom here. Shame, too... one wonders why - after all, the J10 & J20 went over pretty well, given their narrow beds. I made part of my living in one (J20) back in... lessee. That'd have been just about 1979 or 1980, right around then.

So i was thinking if i do anything suspension Wise or anything that isnt related to my body since my frame is from a 77 CJ7 i would have to get things for a 77 and then if i did anything body related it it would be with a 84 right? correct me if im wrong even though i dont think much changed suspension wise from 76-86 and i dont know how much changed in the bodys from 76-84 so any one who could insight let me know! thanks!:D

is the gas filler on the passenger side back on both?? what kind of shape is the wiring harness and fuse block??
Does the new tub have a steering column?

Corey. Body and frame on a CJ7 are the same from 76 to 86, bodies is bodies, fenders is fenders, and hoods is hoods. The only diference was in running gear changes. Lift springs are the same for 76 to 86 and all of them will fit across the board. Only the shocks will be a diferent length due to tower change.

Yep, I'll kick in here, too... from '77 to '84, motors & transmissions & transfer cases & axles (with hubs, brakes, etc) took the brunt of the changes - frames & sheet metal stayed the same. The fuel tank & filler did change, though... large filler neck to small one.

The airforce and army had quite a few Cj10s as aircraft tuggers. you can still find them at gov. auctions. the dash and radiator in my jeep are from a diesel cj10. i got it because its a 3 core radiator. the guy i bought it from parted out the jeep and kept the tub to use as a cab for a jeep truck he was building off of a CJ8 frame it was one of the coolest things i've seen yet

I was thinkin' they only used the 2WD CJ10A's as aircraft tugs. I could be wrong, though... I've been before. Couple of times. :)

A CJ-10 makes a nice project for an off-roader...

The tub is bare and ready for body work and paint is has no wireing at all and no it doesnt have a steering column either. The gas filler on my fiberglass tub is on on the passenger side and the gas filler on the steel tub is on the passenger side back, but he gave me the gas tank that came with tub, but he doesnt know if the sending unit is for a chevy 350 or CJ7 . He also gave me a new stock heater part because mine is cracked, He was nice enough to stand it on its side for me so when i got there i could look at how nice the NOT rusted out floors are, this tub is a gem all it has is surface rust and needs very minor body work, i was impressed for a 84 CJ7 tub, and just to see his beautiful FREE barn find Scrambler(the whole bodys rusted) was worth that trip alone! The free flat fenders i got are heavy duty ones, i dont think im going to use them cause one is bent. and IO i will take pictures when the fiancee gets home we have to move stuff around in the garage, i also take a picture of her ZJ, ive already taken that into my hands its already got a flowmaster series 40 muffler and 30 inch Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ next is a 3 inch lift, with some 31's and pinkie cepek rims and Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ.

Also forgot to mention whats a good tool to cut a roll bar off the frame where its welded? Oh ya for a CJ7 roll bar locally to! ha gotta love irony, i gotta cut one and then buy another and then weld the new one on.
