I am going to swap out my T-5 for a NV4500 in my CJ7 . Talked to advanced adapters and say they can source me a rebuilt NV4500 for like $2100. Given this is not the coveted granny low first gear. I still will have to buy all the adapters to make this swap possible. So it is looking pretty $$$$. Anyone who has more experience than me this know if this is a good deal. Should i just find a used one? Anyone know of a better deal possible with the granny low? Any advice on this subject is appreciated.

Interesting dilemma. When I've bought used components from Jeep guys, they've all been accurate and fair with the condition of it so I knew what I was getting into. Wouldn't know what to expect from some of the truck guys trying to offload one of these things. Would have to be a very good reason.

If it were me, I'd try to grab one from a reputable salvage yard. Try car-part.com to check nationwide and see what their pricing is. Some I've talked to will extract it and ship it to you, even across states.

I got my engine from a local salvage yard. Found one in great condition for a great price, went to inspect it and for no extra charge they pulled it and delivered it to my house with a 60-day return policy.

I once saw a NV4500 in a CJ7 . It required a spacer between the tranny and bell housing plus 2 CV joints. The shifter was located even further back than the T5s was. I don't recall how much the skid plate had to be lowered. It is a pretty rugged unit though, some guys can get a T-5 to hold up to some tough off road terrain but mine failed on me.
