I believe it's 10-73. Thats off the top of my head, I know the 10 part is right. At least on my year jeep.

I have an aftermarket fuel gauge and it stay on full even when all the wires are off of it.

If the sending unit is sending out the right ohm's I would think the gauge is bad.

If it reads full with no wires attached, it's toast. Chances you got an after market gauge that works with the Jeep sending unit are just about zero.

I just replaced my fuel tank, sending unit and fuel lines. I tried to adjust the send unit before installation and checked it with my meter. All looked good until I hooked up my aftermarket Equess(sp) gauge. Not even close to correct and I ordered the correct OHM range. Also had a new VDO gauge from Jegs in the correct OHM range. Tried that and it was closer but still read a little high. Noticed that the VDO gauge had a small access hole in the side and with a jewels screw driver I could fine tune it almost right on. I still need to see where it will run out of gas and what the gauge reads but looked good as I filled the tank 5 gallons at a time. I made sure that I had a better ground location for the sending unit . The stock location looked like it could have caused problems down the road. I'll check it out after I get home in about a month from my current road trip for work. Kinda sucks that I'm in sunny southern Calif. but the jeep would last about 1 night in the hotel we stay in here.
