Old Dale

Just got back from 4 days in the Old Dale Mining District. Lots of late 1800's to early 1900's mines to explore. Aside from daytime temps in the low 90's, the weather couldn't have been nicer. Here's a few pics

Bring a light and pick and see what you can find! lol

(Just kidding! - I wouldn't want to hammer on any walls down there, I would cause a cave in on a "load bearing" wall!)

Thanks for sending that in, I have looked at the Old Dale Mining District just east of Joshua Tree but have not wheeled there. Spring is prime time to camp in the SoCal desert in a location where you cannot see any light at night other than stars and the moon or hear anything other than a coyote or a bird flying by.

JR74CJ5. We don't go in vertical mines, only horizontal . I only took that pic because it was the only one out of the many we visited that still had a ladder.

Torxhead. It is amazing out there, the mines, the cabin remains, the trails.... The place has more than it's fair share of rocks too. We decided to exit the area on a different trail then the graded road we came in on. 3 hours to go 2 miles. Every 100 feet or so we would have to stop and "rebuild" a section of the rocky shelf road we took to exit. Good times
