It has a heartbeat all of its own, a freedom to go where others can’t or won’t, control of your destiny, a brotherhood (male/female), a wind in your hair sun in your face lifestyle others only dream about, it’s a Jeep Thing and I DO UNDERSTAND.
I bought my first CJ5 in 1972 right off the showroom floor at Bud Meadows Jeep in Portland, Oregon; powder blue, white Whitco top, AMC 304 , with dual exhaust. After picking it up I drove to my then girlfriend’s house; her father was is the front yard and the first words out of his mouth were, “How do you ever expect to get a girl to out with you in that thing”. My girlfriend came bouncing out the front door, jumped in the jeep and away we went. 42 years later I still have a CJ5 , and the girl.
