On-Board Air: Which Is Right For You?

Why no mention of using converted A/C compressors in the article. :confused:
A/C compressors offer the highest CFM, and with a small storage tank will outperform anything else.

IMHO: Magazine article. Magazines are nothing more than advertisements with articles promoting products sold by their advertisers.

If I could have found a way to mount a York on my 5.0L and get everything under the hood, I might have went that route. So, I'm looking at other possibilities. Local guy has one of these for sale: https://www.extremeoutback.com/prod...+Output+12+Volt+Compressor+Part#+007-000.html Appears to be a pretty beefy unit. I'd couple it with an air tank and tuck it somewhere in the back of my CJ5 .

My ARB lockers have a small compressor:

But I seriously doubt it will air up a tire before I die from thirst....
 
That's only 1.5 CFM @ 100psi.
Take all day to fill a tire and you won't be running any air tools.

Yeah, I won't have enough beer in the cooler to do 4 tires with the small ARB compressor. That's why I'm looking at alternatives.
 
The issue, is the 12vdc power supply. It can only do so much, no matter how it's packaged.

Didn't realize they have that many model. Gonna have a tuff time deciding which to choose from except for the expensive ones
