hey all, you've probably "been there, done that" with this one, but i cant find anything on it.
I have an air compressor built in from the old A/C unit, the rest of the unit id broken except for the compressor, i have plenty of room to fit an air-tank on board. does anyone know how i can turn the compressor into a pump for this system?

start with doing a Google search for Kilby OBA. Then start reading, and reading, and reading. There are 1000 ways to do it, and most all of them work.

You know what, you're right. I don't think we've seen an A/C OBA conversion on build on this site yet.

I hereby nominate you to make jeep-cj.com's first A/C OBA build thread, let us know what you find :D

hahaha, ill do my best, not much of a engineer, but ill go for it. worst comes to worse, ill break my a/c compressor, not like ive been using it!

Your post confuses me a little...

You say 'I have an air compressor built in from the old A/C unit' and the you say 'the rest of the unit id broken except for the compressor' and then 'how i can turn the compressor into a pump for this system'...

So what is it? You have an air compressor built from an old a/c unit or the system works except for the compressor? Why would you need info on how to turn the 'compressor into a pump for this system' if 'the rest of the unit id broken except for the compressor'?

Just trying to understand so we can help out! :chug: :D

Brock you da man.:D

This is how I but my on board air. 130 cu. ft. @ 3,500 lbs. If I run out, I have 6 more.:D

it is an old Laredo model so it came with factory a/c the air compessor is the only part of that system that still functions, except it is no longer hooked up. im sure it will work if i plug it back in and get the belt back on. i just need to know how to wire and rig the air system.

thankls for all your support, this is my next mission for my jeep, i will post up pics and info when im done

the wiring is pretty easy, one wire on the complessor clutch, apply 12V DC to it and it goes "click"

the hard part is to be sure that the compressor doesn't pump all it's oil out into your flat tire. I think the stuff Brock posted will cover that. can we have a picture of your compressor?
