Just looking for some opinions on the quality of Superlift. I have an opportunity to buy a complete 1 inch lift from a part out for 175 plus shipping. They have approx 1k on them according to the owner. I see these go for 599ish shipped new. So I could save a couple hundred bucks.

my original intention was to go with a Rusty's 2.5 Spring lift kit that costs 592 shipped new. The lift kits I purchased in the past were rustys and I was very satisfied with them so I am wondering if I would regret saving the couple hundred bucks by saving with a superlift.

IMO putting in lift springs that are only going to give you 1" sounds like a hole lota work for very little gain.

Not really. The factory springs in the front are done and sagging way too low and need be replaced, plus I got a v8 in there which is a little heavier than the oem AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l . Don't plan on going over 31s , so I think 1 inch really fits the bill, unless the super lift in anybody's experience is an awful ride or something.

ive been looking around with this same idea thisguy....im not going bigger on tires just looking for more flex and im thinking that 1" at that price would be good however i dont know what ill find in the intermediate time, please keep us updated on the performance you get from this, im looking into 2.5 bds springs.

Im just worried to brand out to a different brand. I have ran Rusty's springs and like them and they are the only spring lifts I would buy new for fsj or Cjs. However 2.5 inches is their minimum lift and it is honestly pushing slightly higher than I want to go.

I read conflicting things about the superlift springs on google search, some say they are real stiff, others say they are a good ride, and others say they are real stiff till broken in. Some say that they sag way to quickly and others say that they ran the springs for years with little to know drop in height.

Makes me uneasy to make a purchase even if I am saving close to 300 bucks.

definitely a valid point, thats the only reason im going with the 2.5 kit is there are more to compare and ive come around to bds being well supported and the best value relative to the reviews and Limited by not doing the yj swap. so....idk 6 of one 1/2 dozen of the next?

i mean if its gotta be fixed its gotta be fixed, i think the superlift option ur looking at is worth it to see if it works out and makes you happy, failing that i would move on to ur familiar spring set in 2.5 lift.

I bought my Superlift springs used....and love them. Mine are 4" springs and weren't too stiff when I got them, so I don't know how much use they had prior. I've ran them for about 11 years now and have been happy with them.
So.....1" springs should be pretty soft I would think ;)

I ran their 4" lift for about 7 years. As others have said they were stiff when new but weren't to bad after they got broke in. The only reason I changed was to go with 2 1/2" front springs when I did the Dana 44 .
I will say that the new RE springs ride some what better than the broke'n in superlift's did.

But is that the brand or the wider front springs?

Can't say for sure, but I believe it's the brand as the rear also seems to be somewhat softer when hitting bumps in the road.

Ok I pulled the trigger on these. The p.o. of the springs claims to have bought them new and used then for 1k before parting the cj.

He is sending the springs with their bushings. And shocks that are newer but for a factory height.

1. Will I need shocks for 1inch lifts or will the factory height ones be fine?

2. Can I reuse my bolts or should I buy new bolts and nuts

3. With the height of the springs being so little lift, will I still need to worry about getting measurements to ad shims to the front axle?

I think you'll be fine with your old shocks and won't need shims with a 1" lift. I've heard you are ALWAYS supposed to get new ubolts, and given the pain it will be to swap them out, that's what I'll do when the time comes. That said, get good quality Ubolts as chinese :dung: will likely be more dangerous that reusing your old stretched out Ubolts.

I agree with wm69, new u-bolts.

U-bolts stretch when torqued, go to your local spring shop and have them bend new ones. Take the old ones with you so they can size them.

do you have a link to a trusted source for quality ubolts?

I actually just asked the same question on another forum. Apparently Rubicon Express sells them through 4wd.com or Quadratec.

That's what I do, I trust them more than any from the web.

The deed is done.

Solid 2 inch gain in the front. Solid one inch gain in the rear.

Check out how warped my passenger front springs was. It's hard to see, the other pics are of a bump stop on the passenger v8 motor mount between the motor mount and the diff. With. The warped spring it had under 2 inch of clearence, now it has over 4. So a definite improvement.
