Our point is: That’s not a lot of weight to leverage off a stock Wrangler tailgate. But once you put a 33- or 35-inch tire on the factory mount, the tailgate hinges and latch aren’t going to be long for this world. And with all the vibration and rattling that’ll be coming from the back of the Jeep, neither is your sanity. And if you’re running 37s or 39s, you don’t have a prayer of fitting a spare on the tailgate anyway.

I've been lookin at this set up for a while hoping that OR FAB would make one for a CJ7 . I like the model with the two Jerry cans. I'm running 33's but I can only carry a 30 spare because I still have the factory spare carrier. I've been told that the rear frame of my CJ can not take the weight of a bumper mounted swing away without reinforcement.

I wonder how much work would be involved to modify the YJ swing away to fit a CJ. I know the obvious would be to relocate the fuel filler to the side just like a YJ but on the passenger side of the CJ.

Has anyone ever put the OR FAB YJ swing away on a CJ?
