Got the hose and scrub brush out today and went to work on the frame. The only color I found under the mud other than rust and black was two orange plastic plugd on top of the Transfer Case . Any idea what these are?

Just above each shift rail is a plastic plug. A switch could be mounted there to tell when you are in four wheel drive. CJs normally do not have such a switch. The other use for them is disassembly. When rebuilding a TCase the detent balls come out those openings when you remove the shift rails.

I have the connections you talk about. The plugs are right behind the shift linkage. It's a Dana 20 btw

Same applies to the Dana 20 . The factory was just cheaply plugging the holes. Buss just put pipe plugs in. Good idea Busa!
