please forgive me if this has already been exhausted.... How do I find out if my jeep was originally a Laredo , Renegade , etc... ? I'm kinda thinking of doing the 77/78 kit but it would be easier if it was something that came with it. The body color i have chosen (all new pieces sprayed but not tube yet) would look wicked with a blue or black kit. thoughts...

Sorry guys for wasted space i finally found a thread explaining. My jeep came with no niceties.

That doesn't mean you still can't make it one. Most of those items were dealer installed. Just pretend your a dealer!

Would you like us to crowd and your desk and give you endless grief over delayed service and how your prices are way out of line?

72-86 were just appearance packages, decals can be made or purchased online.
The 77/78 decal is the same just add a sports steering wheel, clock, tach, and your good to go. Period correct seats and you have a Renegade .

It's YOURS-Do what ya-want.:chug:
Post up some pictures........

Mine came with the tach, im not sure what it was either since it had been repainted but I plan to add the Renegade decals anyway and leather wrap the steering wheel and oh poop handle :chug: I say also to go for what you like :chug:

I do plan to set up the new instrument panel factory looking. I plan to add the factory tach in the factory position. Why not a clock too! All the jeeps I've ever owned never had decals and its rare around here to see one that way. (CJ) I'll have to go back and find it online again in a bit but theres a company that sales the factory style for what looks to cover all the models (designs). I'd lean more towards the Laredo because its seems rare...?? Renegade is fine too. Any thoughts on what you'd do between the 2 names?.. Also I'd probably have side decals made to match. Maybe a 2 inch (Height) along the side of body between fender to fender. The kit I'm looking at only has Hood decals and the JEEP decals.

A word of caution if I may.
Engine heat and UV are very hard on all decals.
If you looking for stripes and such. Think about using automotive paint.

Phoenix graphics seems to have a pretty good rep for accurate and quality graphics, I am planning on going with them

thats the company i was looking at. its cool they recreated all those. Whats your thought on Laredo vs. Renegade ? i know its just a trim package/ decal deal that they used to sell the jeeps back in the day. i have not looked up the actual meanings of the name or anything yet. i simply like the look of the decals. dont see them around here. stands out

Collin Brothers have the right decal for all the years. Jeep Decal / Stripe Kits ( Body ) The Laredo was offered only from 1980 to 1986 if you want to be accurate. Some of the packages had special emblems on them too. What ever you decide, please post a picture when your done of the before and after.

Now I'm starting to wonder who Collins bros buys their decals from

They do sale the same stuff. I'm thinking the 70-06 Renegade , not crazy about the 77-78 kit but I do also like the 79-80 and 83-84 Renegade kit. I'll post a pic when the time comes.

I like the 83-84 set the best.... I'm torn between doing a Renegade tape kit or just do some full custom graphics......

Unfortunately none of them will work for my CJ, :( well maybe the Renegade might. But I'd like to come up with something new and different. See I'm building a Custom CJ Truck (see link below). Maybe something like "CJ TRUCK", or "JEEP TRUCK". :) However that all sounds un-original. :o Anybody have any ideas?

DING! Light just came on. How about "SUPER Renegade " ? That might be cool on the side of the hood. Any other suggestions?

Renegade just sounds more sporty to me and thats what I am planing to go with, I do however plan to have lots of nice things on the inside of mine like the Laredo came with, I all ready have the clock and tach from the factory and I plan to do color match wrap on the steering wheel, shifter boot, and oh:censored: handle :chug:
