I just got the painless wiring for my CJ7 and am wiring it now. My question is I have 2 short light green wires that hang about 2 feet down from the fuse box. ( I think #756 and #758) One says back up light switch B+ and the other I think say back up light. I see my back up light switch on the top of the Transmission but PO did away with the wiring so how would I wire it? Which wire goes where? Any help ASAP would be greatly appreciated. Oh, I have a T-176 tranny.

I am wiring my 83 CJ7 right now with a painlees harness 10106. If you have questions go to the painless wiring website and go to their forums and to the jeep harness section. I have asked several questions on their and got really quick responses from the painless moderator.

In referance to your question, I just asked a question about my back-up lights. and I have to run those two green wires back through my firewall to the switch on the Transmission . Looking at the Jeep wiring diagram I would say the the b+ wire would go to the red wire on the back-up switch. If you don't have any wires on the back-up switch then the only answer I would have is buy a new switch with the wires.

This link is for a 76 CJ but may be similar for a 77. The wiring diagram is section 22. http://oljeep.com/edge_76_tsm.html I used the one for an 82 CJ and it was such a help. Allowed me to trace back to which painless wires connect to where on gages and connectors. I printed out all pages for the diagram and taped them together. What I really liked about these diagrams are that the connectors are shown as shape that they are. So much better then chiltons books

Thanks for the info AlaskaViper. I just joined the forum myself and asked my question on there. Those diagrams are so much better than my manual. I will have to print them out too. Thanks again.

Storm.
