Last weekends Panamintvalley.com Fall Haul trail run. We all met up at Panamint Springs Resort and ran a loop up Hunter mt. to Hidden Valley to Racetrack valley down Lippencott trail into saline valley and out Grapevine canyon and back to PSR for 110Mi. and about 11hrs. Sorry for lack of CJ picks but mine was the only REAL Jeep there!

Looks like a great trip.:)
A rock that moves, now thats freaky.

The accepted theory on how they move is...To start the Racetrack Playa as it's called is billiards table flat and when conditions are just so such as a frozen surface in the right stage of thaw and very high winds the rocks get pushed around leaving trails that remain many years, most cases the trails are not straight and zig zag around.
Pretty crazy, bummer is certain people think they are magic and steal them and the Park service has to go find replacements for trails with missing rocks.

Thanks for sending that in Sasquach, I didn't know about the rock replacing.

Our run leader is a Park Service Ranger and he talked about this, the other tidbit was the teapots on the sign get taken down a couple time a year and only about 10 were hanging last week unlike your picture.

Thanks again, from what I have seen so far in the Saline/Death Valley/Panamints/Argus/Eastern Sierra and Western Nevada there just isn't enough in one lifetime to see it all and it takes more than a Jeep to see what you can of it.

Boy ain't that the truth!
You should concider the Panamintvalley.com forum and joining on a run.
They do a Fall Hall meet and a Spring Fling that just occured + others.
Last year Fall Hall we did the Salt tram tranfer sta. loop and was really a great trip, most are based out of Panamint springs resort with a potluck dinner one night.

Thanks! Cool pics and I learned about moving rocks. Never seen that before, very cool.
