Hey guys, sorry its been awhile since I've been on, missed y'all though! So the jeep is coming along... slowly do to weather, hunting season and work being busy :( Well i've run into an issue that I plan on trying to resolve tomorrow. I recently installed a set of rear LED tail/turn signal on the jeep, along with a new headlight switch. I noticed today that when I went to try everything out the turn signals would not work and the park lights would not work either. Headlights work fine, tail lights and brake lights work fine. Anyone have any advise on this matter? I've installed LED lights on my motorcycle and had to install resistors to make everything function properly, is this the same issue here you think? Thanks:chug:

You mght want to check the ground connections, the CJ rear lights are grounded at the rear of the body which is a pretty poor location. Try running a ground wire direct to the battery negative terminal and go from there.

Thanks Torx, well thru my rewiring I have run dedicated grounds to every light rears included. After doing the same for the front today the parking lights work and the side markers, except the right front side marker is very dim. But still I have no turn signals  I haven't checked to see if they work manually yet though. On a side note the jeep is almost road ready with all I got done today :chug:

I will try and post some pics

The LED lights are not drawing enough amps to actuate the flasher correctly. Your on the right track with the resistor I believe.

I think I have read that they make a flasher specifically for led's..I know that they make a flasher unit for motorsickles with led turn signals.I have used several of them on choppers we built..

H-D , 10-4 on the flasher. Must likely has the resistor or capacitor built in which would be great.Suprised the OP didn't try that first thing?? can't remember what the other issue was but seemed fairly simple.

To the OP, a VOLT-OHM Meter is your friend even a $2 one from H-F will do the job. For me it is easier to use than a test light which I rarely use.

ps: H-D that is some narly jeeps you got listed in your avator

I just looked on ebay and they had several flashers advertised for led lights. So,no doubt your local parts house will have them too..

mstar..that jeep is one bad boy for my purposes..It handles and performs like a 68 camaro ss on the street and has no problem taking me anywhere I want to go on our farms..I have built a lot of jeeps over the last 30+ years and this is by far the best to me..

Thanks guys, to answer your question md, I do have a multimeter a fluke in fact but the reason I asked was to see if anyone had come across this, I knew my wiring was sound and had thought it was needing a resistor, but with out specs meters can be useless. With the plethora of knowledge in this website it has always proved to be beneficial and time saving just to ask. Thanks again guys ill search the parts stores now and update later when I find that flasher. :chug:

Hey man good to know your onboard with the meter.
For me it's nice to watch these little problems get resolved and learn about others knowledge like yours in the process.:) mike

I agree Mike, though I do have a lot of mechanical experience I don't believe anyone can posses the amount knowledge and been there..done that..learned this..learned what not to do like this site can provide... Well other than Petecj and a few other select individuals. Thanks hitman for the part number.
