Is anyone else having trouble with Photo Bucket? I've used the service for many years now it's been troublesome to deal with and now I can't get in at all. I use it to post pictures of jeep projects.

Folks are say'n the same thing on a couple of other forums I'm on.
There's not much love for P'bucket now.

What a shame it used to be a GREAT site. Easy to use and reliable. Now I don't know what's going on. It seems to want to use mobile devices to upload. I don't have a smart phone and I'm beginning to feel left out of the world. The more I see people sticking their noses constantly in their phones the more I don't want one.

:( If I can't use Photo Bucket I can't show off my redesigned rear bumper tire carrier. :( much sadness :(

I used to use it. Now they tell me I have maxed my space allocation and want me to pay for more space. Oh well.

At least they aren't saying that to me, I'm supposed to be at 40%.

I found that for $4.99 a year you get rid of the ads. That helps a whole bunch. Very little problems now. Kind of sucks, but that's the way everything is getting.

An alternative that has been working great for me is to display the picture in your computer's image viewer, right click on it, click on copy, go to your post and "control+v" to paste the image in in full size, not just a thumb nail. You can even go to Google Images, click on an image, then click on image button and do the same procedure as above to put the image in your post.

Doesn't work for me ..... actually NOTHING in the photo paste button works for me either. All this was simple, now its becoming "not really worth the effort". I can't even change the text at all. Nothing actually works except for writing basic text.

I use an iPad which is really easy but I still haven't figured out how to post up a picture. There should be a nice simple way-button to click on to pull up one of my stored pictures on the iPad then upload it but I sure have not found it.

I normally crop size my pics in photoshop, upload to photobucket,(which has become a pain in the ars for me as well), then copy and past the "image" link into a post here. Lately, however, I've been adding pics to my posts with tapatalk...... rather than starting a new post, hit the quote button, erase the quoted part, then add you text. At the bottom of the window you'll see an icon for pics - it sticks em in there easy peasy!!

Finally! My work computer handles Photo Bucket well enough to get the job done. It's still a pain, but it works. Now along with other issues there's the "520" Error to deal with.

I've used Tapatalk for months and could post but never upload pictures in this forum. I'm in another forum in Tapatalk and I can post pictures out of my iPad easily. Now just in the last couple of weeks I can't even view this forum in Tapatalk. So I'm still out of luck. Just seems strange you have to go out of this forum to post pictures when I already have them stored here on my device. Maybe it's just me, not being tech savvy enough

They keep saying they are working on it but I have seen no change and it's been how many months now? Still can't see pics in the galleries or post pics of my new Jeep. I'm starting to think it may be time to move on.

I can't answer all of your questions, because I'm not on the inside. I will say however that if you click on a button, select your picture, and then click post it, you are loading that picture to the forum's server. If you use Photo Bucket, or something like that you are linking your picture to another web site. The forum's server space is not used. That equals money saved. Server and bandwidth space for a forum such as this one is very expensive. Again, I'm just guessing based on what I've seen for other web hosting, could be $500 to $600 a month easy. That's why the other forums have tons of ads on their site. As for all the other problems, they are related to the switch over to an encrypted forum. As I explained before this is due to the use of TapTalk requirements, and a large number of members use that method to post to the forum. So it was a necessary evil. Now I would like to ask you a question, How many people support this forum, and I'm not talking money. I'm talking tech support. At the University od Southern Colorado when I worked in the IT department we had 25 to 30 people to support the University's system. As far as I know there is only one person supporting this forum. Do the math. If you don't like it, you're free to go somewhere else. But I doubt you'll be any happier somewhere else. I'll put up with a few problems once in awhile, for all the really good things this forum has to offer.

Point taken moving on will miss some of you maybe I'll see you on the next sit.

:( :( :(

My main problem is how differently the site works on different computers. My home computer seems to work except that I have to login twice and nothing works (I cant change text, I cant post pictures, I can't use smilies) except for posting simple text. At work I only need to log in once, but have to click on "accept all content" for any text will be accepted. But everything seems to work, I can post pictures, smilies work, color, italics work, but it is necessary to "accept all content" all the time. Last spring I made the mistake of upgrading the operating system on my home computer, at work the City won't upgrade the operating system until they absolutely have to do it so we are still on the older operating system. So far I hate the new system. Nothing seems to work correctly. I would hate to be a programmer trying to navigate making all systems work together.

If your having problems on one computer but not the other, sounds like a computer problem. I'm currently using a fairly new Dell computer with windows 8.1 OS. I have very few problems. I know that I am probably more computer savvy than most having worked as an IT technician. That being said, I would suggest you try to find somebody that can help you sort out the problems and fix them. It's really not practical to try this online, or I would.

mtnwhlr - please don't leave. You have on numerous occasions help myself and others with their Jeep problems. That is very much appreciated. I urge you to try to get your computer problems resolved so that you can continue to help others. Send me a PM with your problems, I may be able to point you in some kid of direction to resole your problems.

The actual hardware of computers is not changing as fast as it was 10 years ago. Today software is the biggest changing part of a computer. Not so much the software you use on your computer, but the software everybody on the internet uses. The ability to place ads imbedded in everything, animation, videos, embedded flash items, and the list goes on. These things create lots of problems for users all the time. It's hard to stay up to date with all of this. But don't quite. YOU are what makes this forum the best Jeep forum on the internet. When I say you, I mean EVERYONE of YOU!

Agreed. I too work in IT (nearly 25 years) and we are in a tough spot right now with respect to browsers. IE, Edge, Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Safari etc. There's no perfect browser. Some sites just work better on a different browser. There are a gazillion technical reasons for this, and most all of them are frustrating for the end user, but it is what it is.

I will say this - if you have a smartphone, get Tapatalk, create a Tapatalk account and add this site. You can post WITH pictures while you lay under your Jeep - I've done this a lot, and I'm sure I will again. In addition, you can create a thread with pictures on Tapatalk, then immediately login here on a PC and edit your post with the text you want - just do it right away because the Edit option only lasts so long...

Smart phone ..... why? I'm a very purposeful smart phone luddite. At this point I will never own a phone that evidently enslaves its owner to constantly check on all the various silly social sites in the world today eventually leading perfectly sane people to take inappropriate selfies to post on line for all the world to see.

What I'm seeing is a catering to the mobile device users while ignoring those of us on real hard wired computers.

Photobucket worked just fine for me until I foolishly upgraded to the newest operating system. Now my once relatively new totally reliable all-in-one home desk top computer struggles to do most things it once did with ease. I've been thinking that it probably should be scrubbed clean by a professional computer geek and rebuilt by someone that knows what he's doing.

Edit: I've been thinking about this post. It might have come off as aggressive. No, not intended that way. Smart phones are amazing devices with the ability to do about anything. It's difficult to blame anybody for taking advantage of that technology. I get that. I'm from a simpler time where phone communication was a far more deliberate affair.
