So I found a AMC 360 out of a 1980 with 60k on it and that has been bored out .030". The price is $120 which is great but it has piston slap on #8. Oil pressure is said to be 20-30psi and Im guessing this is a idle.

So my question, is this engine even worth trying to fix or rebuild to replace my AMC 304 ? I was not sure since it was already bored out .030. I was also not sure it piston slap can be fixed in a rebuild. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Just my personal opinion but If you're determined to rebuild an engine, I would look for one thats not had one failed rebuild already.

Better still, try to find one that doesn't need to be rebuilt.

I agree with Ken. But from what I know you can bore up to .060. I have read that you should have the block tested for cracks and voids in the casting before boring to .060. The expense may not be worth it.

I forgot to mention that the engine had some of the emissions equipment needed for my jeep to pass emissions. This was part of the reason I am interested in this engine, but I am not sure I want a worthless long block sitting around.

Re-sleeving a cylinder isn't as expensive as you might think. If the #8 is toast, you can get it fixed.

Exatly. I had a piston sleeved on my 401 recently when a wristpin froze up and created piston slap bad enough to tear the hell out of that cylinder.
Having the cylinder bored and sleaved ran me $350

Edit> The new piston was included in that price.
