Planning the 2nd Annual Moab Jeep-CJ Trail Ride

Planning the 2nd Annual Moab Jeep-CJ Trail Ride
Nice!

FYI, Bass and OJL will be our Tail Gunners for this trip. They will confirm the group has past obstacles, alert group of rear approaching traffic, and assist the trail leader. They have pretty much been our Tail Gunners on most of our trail runs and do a very good job of it.

Thanks to Posi for the schedule. Carol especially thanks him. She tries to have nice dinners prepared for hungry mechanics at the end of the day and just knowing when this will be uncomplicates her life immensely. Last year she planned dinner for 6:00 and we showed up to eat at 10:00. The baked potatoes sorta resembled buffalo chips and she was very embarrassed.

Thank you Bill and Carol for all you do for us, it is much appreciated by all. I was especially thinking of Carol when I setup the workshop assignments and work schedule.

We agree!!! Looking forward to seeing everyone!!!

:agree: Thank you so much to both you and Carol for feeding us! And by the way, Carol's cooking after sitting for 4 hours is better than any of my cooking any day!

There was an accident on Golden Spike a couple days ago. I'm not going to get into details but it appears to have been driver error. A lady bystander was hit and hurt badly, the driver seems to be fine. Very sad to hear this.

We will be talking trail safety at our driver's meeting as usual.

Geezzz! I don't know if Big Foot could make it across at that location. Definitely driver error.

He wasn't trying to cross the gap there.
Early reports say he was high centered, gave it some gas and when he broke free hit a bystander.

Also, the woman who was injured posted the following on Facebook:

I want to thank everyone that helped on Sunday. You all are my heroes and without you, I wouldn't be here. I don't remember much after the jeep came off the rock and turned towards us. So very thankful noone else was hurt. 2 surgeries down, not sure how many more but I'm blessed to still be here... I was flown to St Mary's in Grand Junction. Thanks to Dr Gumman for piecing me together Sunday night...you were so comforting when I needed it the most.

The only one that knows the full details is the driver, and I'm sure he has been advised not to speak publicly for obvious reasons.

"Quoting from the FB group i am in where there was a guy who was behind him on the trail. This picture shows the perspective from a wider POV."

"red line is right after where he floored it. Blue is where she was hit" - anotheraznguy

On another note, we have 3 more Jeeps with a total of 6 people that want to join us in Moab. Actually their already in the desert and will meet up with us. All three rigs are flat fenders and their Jeeps come heavily outfitted.

Tires WILL be aired down to limit wheel spin. Mud & water will be navigated no faster than needed. Our group will travel in a way that will minimize damage to the road and erosion. If you're not sure what is appropriate, just ask a leader or gunner for advice on airing down and Tread Lightly in general.
