Planning the 9th Annual Colorado Trail Ride
Yes it’s official that Im going.

Hagar + wife + dog

We'll be arriving in Ouray on Friday afternoon Aug 2nd.
Saturday, we'll probably spend the day doing some tourist stuff, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, or Silverton or ?? to be determined.
Sunday might be local Ouray day and hang out, last minute Jeep stuff (if any).
I hope the pizza place still has outdoor seating; the dog limits where we can go in and eat.

Check post 22, Whatroad is not coming. At least that's how I read it.

15 days until my crew loads up and readies for the trip. 16 days until we pull out of central CA. 17 days until we get to see beautiful Ouray, CO again.

:chug:

I will have my laptop with the software to program these radios for anyone that needs that done. Since they all look alike, I can also program a custom 7 character name to replace the "welcome" in the power on screen.

^^^^

Schools out for summer and, summer school, what? Many of us remember the if it wern't for bad luck, Woa. The teacher has to attend training for a "New Focus." We apologize, however, but we are unable to attend yet another year.

We can empathize with all those who wish to do this trip but can't for whatever reason. We feel it and live right here. How crazy will it be, the year when there really are "too many jeeps"

My group doesn't have those (yet anyways) - we'll be on old school CB or yell at us! lol.

Normally I'd just grab it but I'm sinking a ton in the jeep currently... May still anyways, we'll see.

I'm done trying to seal the vac leak in the Mr Gasket 4 barrel intake to 2 barrel carb adapter... The stock 2 barrel intake is getting cleaned up and back on it for the trip to be done with that. Spent the last 3 nights solid trying to get that thing to seal, even tig welded on it, and sanded back flat. It's the profile of sealing edges that's the problem for me with this particular 4 barrel Edlebrock performer intake. I'm just done with it for now.

Unless I have some magical moment between now and 4 hours from now :)

:chug:

Just to reaffirm,
We will not be able to go over Black Bear Pass.

Previously county road officials said it was "very unlikely" that it will be open by August 4th. Today I called to ask if there was an update. I also asked if it might be possible for us to drive up the shelf road from Telluride and then come back down the same way. The answer is a definite no. The road crew has taken photographs and a follow up email was sent to me with those photos.

Here is what they said:

Good morning,

The County wanted to update you on the status of opening Black Bear Pass.

The crews are still clearing Imogene and won't finish the San Miguel County side until later next week.

They will then move the dozer to Black Bear Pass. San Juan County does not have their side open yet.

Tom Hannahs, District Supervisor hiked up to where Ingram Falls crosses Black Bear. There has been extensive damage from Avalanche debris. The road is impassable and major repairs will be needed.

Please see pictures.

Yesterday I checked out the trails and started a thread "Silverton Trails July 2019". I could see that the eastern (San Juan County) side has not yet begun to be plowed.

As for my plans, I am not canceling my reservation at The Angler Inn near Telluride.

I will pick up Jake, my nephew and we'll go over Ophir Pass to the Angler Inn on Saturday Aug. 3rd.

On the 4th instead of going over Black Bear Pass we'll take Imogene pass to get to Ouray.

We'll see you guys then.

Typically during the week we meet at the hotel where the majority of us stay this year it’s Quality Inn 191 5th Ave, Ouray (leaving for the trail at 9am). Unless Dave directs otherwise.

Perfect, guess I won't be late then.
That is where we are staying.

Yes, as Posi was saying each morning we'll meet up at Quality Inn 191 5th Ave, Ouray and leave at 9 am.
