"Oscar":1985 CJ7, 4.0 '98 OBDII, T177, RE 4.5" lift w/ CV Jnts, Dana 300, Dana 30 and AMC 20, 33" BFG KO2s, Raptor Lined Interior and Rustoleum BBQ exterior.
No way I could afford or have a reason to do a swap for Portal Axles but just thought I would put this out there for discussion? I've always been intrigued by them.

Don't really know too much about them except that I had only seen them on military type vehicles prior. Only recently have I seen them turn up in conversions or even new custom vehicle options.

Those are some nice pics there Neuner. I'll just keep banging up my diff pumpkins until I can afford a set.
 
It's a great idea for ground clearance, to bad they cost so much.
 
Here is a picture of the "Mighty FC", a concept vehicle built by Chrysler. It's front axle is a portal.

I remember seeing that. Awesome vehicle. Probably/hopefully faster than the Unimog that I think it resembles that is produced with Portal Axles.
