I'm new here so if I'm doing this wrong please forgive me. My 84 cj has a gremlin. It will run fine for days, then give the symptoms of fuel starvation and bog down and eventually quit. It will run again after sitting. Already re-routed few lines cause I thought it was vapor locking. I have not changed the ECM though. Thinking about doing the stealth hei mod. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Greetings from Roll Tide country.

Do you have the OEM fuel vapor canister and a return fuel line to the tank? The fuel filter should have one line in and two lines out; to the carb and the return as without it vapor lock symptoms can occur. Vacuum line leaks can give you troubles too.

There is a return just like you described. I guess I should mention when it quit on me yesterday, I removed the air filter and worked the carb and it sprayed fine. Also it seems to only occur when tank is 1/2 or more full. Also extreme smell of raw gas at rear. Aftermarket steel tank, with signs of past leakage from sending unit area. I just haven't determined if it is fuel or fire related.
