Here is another link to a very good trailer build but on another site: Bolt-together fiberglass Jeep-tub trailer kit - JeepForum.com

My neighbor when I lived in Colorado built my trailer. I Paid $300 for it. This last year I decided to spruce it up a bit so that it would match my Jeep CJ7 .

Tub is 4 foot wide and 6 feet long. Plan is to build a slide in camper for it. That way I can use one trailer for either camping or hauling cargo. The tub is made of galvanized metal. I used a ceramic urethane paint that is tough as nails and will be the same color as the Jeep. I changed all the lights to LEDs and added some reflective stickers. Pulls really nice. Has a set of Subaru Brat Wheels on it. Tires are on only 13 inch wheels, but has lots of ground clearance. I updated the hitch to a 2" ball and will be adding a jack. Had to drill two holes in the tube as it would hold rain water. Over all I'm very pleased with my little trailer.

Thanks Rod. I'm Familiar with Jeffs work. Always good stuff. I'm debating wether to grab the CJ8 project I'm looking at or sink it into tools for the garage. I could turn my Limited tub into a trailer pretty easy if I learn to weld.

Built from scratch... copy of military trailer but with 4’ x 6’ floor. 8’ with tailgate down. Dual hitches... pintle hook or 2” ball coupler. 5x5.5” lug pattern on 3500lb axle.

One thing I always wondered about... Why do people bother with much more expensive off-road tires on trailers when traction isn’t an issue?
Standard trailer tires have tougher / stiffer sidewalls to prevent sway or sagging when fully loaded. Why spend more for reduced performance?

I would run the same size tire/wheel on my trailer, that is on the jeep. ;)
Part of the KISS deal.
Larger dia tires ride the rocks better than a smaller OD one will.

The tire height and ground clearance is the same for the Jeep that will pull it offroad, the only difference is the width, tread and tire design. The spare will interchange anywhere.
If I happen to use it with another Jeep on the street, tire size won’t matter.
Besides, it’s not the only trailer we built. We spent almost a month building three of them. The colors have to match the tow vehicle! lol
