Anyone know what part number I am to be using? I have a AMC 232 i6CJ5 and bought the whole Power Steering Setup on ebay, but does not come with the belt?
Best to use a string and measure the minimum size (diameter) and take the string to an auto parts store (explain how you got th length) so they can give a correct belt. You never know what assortment of parts you were given.
The problem i had with the string technique is that the width of the belt determines how deep it rides in the pulley.
Good luck. I bought the stock belt (17465 ) for a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l 6 and it was too small. 10 exchanges later I settled on a 15470.
Take an old belt and cut it, then when wrapped around the pulleys cut to proper length or measure the amount short then you will come up with the length for the parts man. Make sure the pump tension is mid way or less.
these belts are custom fit and last several times longer than regular v belts.
they seem expensive when bought by the foot but are really quite cost effective. I carry one as a spare but would not hesitate to replace the belts on my CJ with these.
available at Granger and I think Home despot in the power tool section.

We have a parts store here called Smyths that is good for things like that with no looking in the puter.
The belt part number usually has the lenght in it somewhere.
My Napa store couldn't find their *** with both hands and a mirror with a map on the back of it.
even when I give them the part number they will order the wrong thing.
and don't grt me started on Vato zone.
