I am trying to connect the pressure power steering hose on 1986 CJ7 and heard it best to loosen the steering box to manipulate it. is this the best way? if so which bolts do I loosen? any other tips?
Yea, putting on a new hose can be a bitch!
The best way to do so is access the bolts (could be three or four) through the frame and drop the the steering box. Don't worry as the linkages will keep it from falling.
You should be able to do this from the front, over the bumper.
