I've got an 86' CJ7 with what I believe to be the original front calipers. I have purchased new reman calipers, but have problems with removing the old ones. Is it ok if I just grind off the torx bolt head? Are those bolts threaded only at the calipers?
Are you trying to remove the anchor plate bolts or the caliper mounting pins? The anchor plates you can leave on, the mounting pins are all that has to come off. The replacement pins should not have torkheads, but 7 mm hex sockets. I would say grinding them would be the final attempt, if nothing else works. if you still have the oem pads, they are probably well glazed over by now.
