Problem with Cj7 turning off Help please

When ever i go to turn off my 1984 CJ7 AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l 258ci my engine rattles and has a spaz attack before it shuts off for about 3 seconds. Anyone know the problem?

Sounds like Dieseling to me.
You may have to run a little higher octane fuel. Or perhaps you are a bit too rich on the mixture.

If this doesn't take care of it, back your timing off a couple of degrees.

I have to agree, it's either to low octane gas or to much timing.

well now this is a breath of fresh air, its usually people trying to get a cj running finally someone asking how to make it stop. but i agree to much timing is most likely your problem
