ON THE HUNT AGAIN
May have found a new project.
Looking at a 1955 Jeep CJ5 .
Currently has no motor or Transmission , I assume no Transfer Case either.
I'll pull the body clean and paint the frame then work the underside of the body. Get it back together and work the rest of the outside and interior.

Planning something unusual for the engine, looking at putting a buick Nailhead V-8 in it. They make decent HP but are known for great TQ some make over 1lb tq per cubic inch.

Ilike nailheads but I'm not sure I can get it maited up to a Transmission and make it 4wd.

If not I'll look at a diesel swap maybe a 1.6 turbo or 1.9.

We'll see, still working the jeep deal.

Food for thought.;)

I had to google max wedge;

"The Max Wedge was a race-only version of the 426 wedge engine offered from the factory. Known as the Super Stock Plymouth and Ramcharger Dodge, the Max wedge featured high flow cylinder heads developed through state of the art( at the time) airflow testing. They had 1 7/8 inch exhaust valves that required the cylinder bores be notched for clearance. The blocks were a special severe duty casting with larger oil feed passages than other RB engines and the blocks were stress relieved by the factory. Induction came by means of a cross ram intake manifold tuned for peak power above 4000 rpm and two Carter AFB-3447SA 4 barrel carburetors. The Max Wedge also included high-flow cast iron exhaust manifolds that, on the later versions, resembled steel tube headers. The Max Wedge was factory rated at 415 or 425 hp (depending on C.R.), and 480 ft·lbf (650 N·m). of torque at 4400 rpm."

That's sweet....

It's the little old lady from Pasadena

The little old lady from Pasadena
Go granny, go granny, go granny go
Has a pretty little flower bed of white gardenias
Go granny, go granny, go granny go
But parked in her rickety old garage
Is a brand new shiny red Super Stock Dodge

And everybody's saying that there's nobody meaner
Than the little old lady from Pasadena
She drives real fast and she drives real hard
She's the terror of Colorado Boulevard

It's the little old lady from Pasadena

If you see her on the street don't try to choose her
Go granny, go granny, go granny go
You might drive a goer but you'll never lose her
Go granny, go granny, go granny go
Well, she's gonna get a ticket now sooner or later
'Cause she can't keep her foot off the accelerator

And everybody's saying that there's nobody meaner
Than the little old lady from Pasadena
She drives real fast and she drives real hard
She's a terror of Colorado Boulevard

It's the little old lady from Pasadena

~Instrumental~
Go granny, go granny, go granny go
~Instrumental~
Go granny, go granny, go granny go
The guys come to race her from miles around
But she'll give 'em a length then she'll shut 'em down

And everybody's saying that there's nobody meaner
Than the little old lady from Pasadena
She drives real fast and she drives real hard
She's a terror out on Colorado Boulevard

It's the little old lady from Pasadena

Go granny, go granny, go granny go
Granny go

I thought that chromed out Jeep 230 Tornado With triple Weber deuces was unusual.;)

Not to discount the old "FE" Ford 6 barrel.

The pink and blue one was actually listed for sale up here on craigslist over the summer. I think they wanted $32K for it rolleyes.webp

I have a hard time paying big bucks for hot rod someone else built.
It seems I'm just waiting for it to blow!
I guess I'm a do it yourself kinda guy.;)

Those would be cool, but I've never seen a nailhead in a jeep, that flathead is sweet!
I'd like to go diesel but the cost is kinda sucky.
I had considered a flat 4, like a turbo charged EJ25 from a WRX.
Still looking at going nailhead.

You could go, where no man has gone before!

Max wedge was in the Belvedre correct? I mean that was as small as a Dart.
That was an engine option alright back when Detroit made huge engines and didn't bother putting suspension under the rigs with them.

Yeah, back then Dodges were famous for being "Taxi Cabs" with Bad :censored: engines.

[FONT=Verdana,Arial,Helvetica]Awesome Super Stock recreation using many factory parts. Super Stock Cross Ram intake, factory shifter and very rare A-100 light weight aluminum seat brackets. 8 3/4 rear end with 3:91 gears. A-833 4-speed, center force clutch. Authentic trunk mounted Super Stock battery with correct vents. This car has been completely restored from top to bottom - every nut and bolt and is as close to perfection as it gets. It has been the feature car in several magazines including Mopar Action, Collectible Automobile Magazine and Hemmings Muscle Cars to name a few. It was winner of Goodguys Rod and Custom Association Muscle Car of the Year. There was no money spared on this recreation and is signed by Mr. Norm himself.

Obviously this one has the "Hemi" Not the "Max Wedge" the way it originally came.;)
