Project Jeep?

Well I've located a Buick Nailhead for $100, it's a 1956 Buick Nailhead 322.
Made 276hp back in the day, but they are well known for making mad low end TQ.
So I'm gonna make inquiry into getting it. Still working the '55 CJ5 deal.

A new monkey wrench has been tossed in.
Just found a '51 willys jeep for $500 motor not
working, but it's complete.

Are you planning a restoration or some “ off the chain” kind of craziness??

I'm not a restorer, I'm a modifier! LOL
I'll probably try to get it running and drive it that way for a bit then
do a partial restore with some upgrades.

In that case....
Has anyone ever considered the Mazda rotary engine??
Small, light weight and all kinds of horses. And as an added plus it gets really lousy gas mileage and has to be exercised regularly.
But of course it is much more dependable than anything Jag ever built.

Considered it, but you really have to rev it to get the power.
It'd make a great Formula offroad engine or setup for the dunes.
If the '51 pans out I'll pick it up, making inquiry tomorrow on both the '51 & '55.
I'm leaning toward a diesel, maybe a VW diesel, 1.6 to 1.9

I bet it would have more than enough to levitate a Willy's, even at idle.
The diesel seems like a good idea, so many have tried it and been underwhelmed by the results.
Perhaps you are the chosen one.:notworthy:

If I stick a diesel in it, it's not gonna be NA.
I'm gonna cram at least 1 turbo under the hood.

The boss has given me the go ahead on a jeep so,
I'm looking got a '56 CJ and I'm eyeing and a '57 willy's.

Kinda digging the flat fenders.
