MY jeep has a tendency to pull to the right when i let off the gas without clutching in. Almost like its loaded up when im on the throttle and its relaxing when i let off and it just wants to go right. What might be the cause/remedy for this?

Sorry, missed the thread basically right below this one that covers it. Ill follow it so no need to continue this

The most like;y answer is loose u bolts get under and re-torque them

It's Dejavu all over again. :D

I never new this was such a big problem with CJ's. Your rear is moving around because of one of the following loose ubolts, springs, our rusted frame.

I re-tightened all u-bolts, they are brand new springs( 4in lift springs- might the increased arch cause this??), and the frame is actually as solid as any frame ive ever seen, no rust spots or weak areas from what ive been able to see

Any chance your brake caliper is not fully releasing? You may be powering thru it and when you let off the gas its pulling? Sounds stupid but worth a look.

I am here: http://tapatalk.com/map.php?1eocsu

That sounds like a possibility but i dont feel any dragging when im accelerating that a hung up cliper would most likely produce, but how could i check that? At this point im willing to consider anything

Alabama,
Jack it up and rotate the wheels / tires see if the right side is draging a little.........
Could be a soft spring on that side or a low tire?
If its not that could be an alignment issue and that could be anywhere, just have to get the tape measure out and run it from corner to corner & side to side and across an imaginary X under the car from 4 know points to each corner. See if something looks wrong, or just take it to an alignment shop.

Good Luck

They are new springs all the way around so shouldnt be a soft spring, jacked up the front and there is no dragging, in fact the right side actually spins a little more free than the left to be honest. i have had the alignment checked and set the toe-in myself when i got back just for safe measure

--Tire pressure is consistant as well

Alabamba,
If you have access to some individual wheel scales , I would weigh it and see if its heavy in that corner.
Think about when this started and see if you can remember if you changed anything.

I do not have access to scales but i may know someone that does so if i can track some down i will try that, and the jeep has done this ever since i bought it but it is not a harsh pull, just enough to notice that something is right, but its definately live-able until the culprit jumps out and says here i am.

Sometimes things like that never really show there ugly head, You say this only happens when you back off the throttle? How about under some heavy braking will it dive to the right then? Torque from the engine will sometimes have an effect, not sure which direction your engine spins.
In any case if there is anyone you know that either races or works for a team they will surely have access to a set. They may not lend them to you , but perhaps they will weigh it for you for a fee. If it is heavy in the corner at least you have a starting point. Has to be done on a level concrete pad with you in the Jeep but those guys will know that.

I think i remember stomping the brakes pretty good once and it pulling hard right, but im not sure. Due to a large number of problems i have not been able to drive it lately to confirm or deny that fact. And im talking to some people i know to maybe attain a set of scales.

And i guess that i should update this as it has relevance. Today i was able to borrow another saginaw 76 steering box off of a jeep CJ7 . It is still the factory box and it has slightly over 130k miles on it and leaks pretty heavily. I still, however, reoved the remanufactured sag 76 that i got from oreillys, and installed the stock on in its place. Made a big difference. There is alot less play in the steering wheel, faster wheel response, and now upon turning the steering shaft right before it connects to the steering box, I am only able to turn it about 1/8 turn before the pitman arm responds- where i was able to turn it about 1/4 or slightly more turns with the reman box from oreillys. It drives alot better, still not good but im thinking thats just because this box has 130k on it..this all leads me back to my thought that the box i got from oreillys is not done correctly.
